I just ordered a gps unit and mag-mount omni antenna.. I got an old laptop from work and installed linux on it, so looks like I'll be able to stumble (kismet style) w/ gps if we're still on for the 31st!

"if" ?

"if" is not an option... there isn't a power on Earth that would stop this event....

Yes, we are still on for the 31st. I will send something out to the mailing list today to confirm that we are still on. Also, in about a week I will let everyone know where/when to meet.

I also want to talk about the post drive data dump with people. This will also go across the list today, but my thought is that we can just export to wi-scan extended and then if everyone (Baltimore) gives me a floppy, I will merge and put the merged file on the floppy and give it back. I know some folks don't have floppy drives anymore so if this is going to be an issue, let me know so we can make other arrangements.

Cool, btw - what mailing list are you talking about?

Why not just create an ad-hoc network and upload the files to a central laptop? I could even set up a web server on my laptop and create a "upload web form" that autmatically merges each upload with a master list..

This is the mailing list:

http://mailsrv.dis.org/mailman/listinfo/wardriving

As for us setting up an Ad-Hoc network if that is what folks would rather do that is fine with me. After the situations we ran into at DefCon with uploads I am a bit gunshy though haha.

One idea that I have tried was to have someone with an iPAQ walk around the group and have the export file IR tranferred to the ipaq from the laptop... and then get the centralized data on the iPAQ and upload that to the server via an activesync connection... it works well as long as the laptop has IR and they have ir support to transfer files... and for those using ministumbler, it is likely they already transfer files via IR....

inside joke: just make sure the person on the iPAQ isn't using IR0wn3d v6.7

might join ya!

Chris,

Briefly met ya at DefCon, George was our go-between for sforce before we barfed our data for the contest. Im close to Balto, even closer to Odenton... and was gonna send you a note once I saw some of your wardrive maps in Piney Orchard.

A few guys on our team are doing some wireless stuff, sounds like a good opportunity to meet again. If you could put my email on your list as the 31st gets closer, i would appreciate it!

thanks!

Greetings Chris,

I know I subscribe to the mailing list though I haven't got any as of this date. Just wondering if you received email (mail list) from the lists?

Regards,
TheWatcher.

Greetings TheWatcher,

I think I have received two three emails via the list, two from Chris and one from Mother... I had sent one that Chris replied two, so to my knowledge there have been four emails total since I joined the mailing list, and that was as soon as it was posted on this board. (when Chris had changed his site's registration list to redirect to the wardriving list)

If my count is off please let me know.

Thanks Blackwave,
I will re-register my email again.

Actually, BW I think there have been a couple mor ethan that...I could be wrong though. One thing I will say, for some reason, my mail server is VERY sporadic when sending to the list. If you look at the timestamps on my emails to the list, they are all out of order....for some reason my mail server SOMETIMES decides to hold on to messages for a day or two before sending them to the list. Only that list though...(hey...what are those helicopters doing up there?).
I will also try to be more diligent on keeping people posted. I have been quite busy the past couple of days and have not sent out a lot of info that I mean to. I will get that across the list in a day or two.
