Twin Cities, MN Area War Driving
Anyone in the twin cities, MN who has found any wireless networks can post them here (maybe just general area), because there are none on the map. There is a lot of potential in downtown Minnepolis/ St. Paul, and also Eagan (with Northwest, Unisys, Lockheed-Martin, 3M(all over), West Group, and more). I am going to get an antenna, maybe GPS and then I will post some findings.

SW
Between 494 and 394 on 100 is ripe with default configured Cisco Equipment.
Lots of activity in the industrial park near the Best Buy Hq, none from the building its self though (maybe a better ant. would tell a different story) A few wide open 2 Mbit networks. 494 and carlson parkway has at least two hits. |

I've been stumbling down 494(around bloomington and edina), theres about 7 w/out antenna, and one named mike without WEP and the range is quite big. I quick looked in minneapolis, I found about 10, 3 no wep. 35W (north of 494) had like 2. Im too lazy to do any more right now, but when i get a good antenna....

I'll post some from Mpls soon
Hacked my tripmate to get it to work with the netstumbler.
Started driving from Uptown to U of M campus, dinky town, stadium village and back. Logged 37 APs in about 30 minutes. I'll post a line here to see how the formatting works before posting the rest. Mpls Linksys have a Pattern
My friends and I have found looking around in mpls that alot of the linksys APs are defult everything... including password to the router... If you are in the metro and are looking for a sure hit to test your stumbling ablitys, go to the U of M, its all free. Drive by riverside. Mall America with the America Origanal Sports Bar that has mega-bit connection. And the U of M is not hidden, drive on Como and when you see the sign Entering U of M campus.. you can get SSID: 1930 Lab A Base Station, or go on University and you can get the SSID: UOfM Wireless, but its wep, Or SSID: Computer Repair.. i think i should shut up now, and have a nice drive.

The U of M is MAC address authentication. If anyone is interested in starting a Wireless Group in the Twin Cities shoot me an email. Me and my friends came up with a way to cover half the river just with our friends houses.

Twin Cities Stumbling
Hey, I'd like to borrow an antenna, or at least work with someone to build one. Otherwise, I have all the equipment.
I was thinking of setting up a pringles antenna on something so that it will rotate. Any problems with this? Someone wanna go driving with me? I have an inverter, so no limits on battery life! Oh, moonroof too, which should help. |
