New Zealand

Hi, Im from New Zealand and have been stumbling for a while with a NavMAN GPS, and my IPAQ with Ministumbler,
I've got all my logs with AP's incl Logitude and Lat, however as yet I haven't converted the logs to any mapping software. Mainly cause I haven't found a way to do it!?!,

Anybody here in NZ? If so are you converting the logs into any Maps?
If not does anybody have any ideas on how I can go about doing it?, Obviously MS Mappoint doesnt have any NZ Maps!!

I do have "Map to Hand" software for IPAQ and NZ maps for the IPAQ, from Evolutionary Software, but I dont know how to convert the ministumbler logs into the Map to Hand software. Any iDeas?!?

thanks,

cheers,
JAI

yes thanks, I did do a search and it did bring up only Australian info, not too helpful.......

I now also have NavMAN SmartST Pro software for the Ipaq with NZ Maps.... it would be great if I could import the netstumbler data into it.....

what type of data is acceptable to be imported?
Once you find that out, it would probably be possible to export your netstumbler data (as text, summary, or wi-scan) and import it with just a conversion... if you find out the detailed information submit it to http://warglue.sourceforge.net so that it may be added to the conversion tables

edit: fixed URL

Actually the SmartST application is for the IPAQ, and it doesn't allow importing of anything.

What I need is something like Mappoint with a Base NZ map, which allows importing of NS data...

I can use Mapmaker, however I dont have a base NZ map, I do have ArcGIS's ARCPAD on the IPAQ, I can import the shape files for the street level data, however no base map.

cheers,
JaBZ

Hello Kiwi

Sorry not to catch your post earlier jabz, I can't have searched for others in New Zealand for nearly a year.

I use OziExplorer for mapping & have been thinking about writing something to get NS logs into it as waypoints. I'm also hoping that Marius will give us an API in Ministumbler 0.4 that I can use along with the OziExplorer API to get moving map at the same time as stumbling.

TUMONZ seems to be the best vector mapping software for New Zealand. It covers the entire country with zoom down to street level with street names. It will communicate directly with a Garmin or Magellan GPS. However, you can't import any GPS files to it, so you need to store the waypoints in the GPS and upload. It's available on CD for NZ$100 incl postage and can be ordered from the TUMONZ site.
