Charlotte? Me too!
I'm outside of Charlotte (Davidson), but have found about 150 in the Charlotte area. For more info, you can read my article:
http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/au/797 (also a link appears on Netstumbler's home page) I worked with Stuart Watson, from NBC6, on a story that was featured on the news. Let's do some NetStumbling!! Alan |

Alan,
I saw that NBC6 story about WarDriving and I work for a certain company in Charlotte that was a little nervous about it. I have not done as much NetStumbling as you, but I have found about 50 AP's in the Highland Creek area. I have mapped and posted my findings with MapPoint. http://www.perigee.net/~jimmac/wardriving.htm James |

newbie from Quenn City!
I have a new laptop to pick up today (yes!!) and will begin stumbling.
I'm thinking about running a cable underneath my dash & outside the hole where the amp line goes to the battery, and run it underneath my truck and mount an antenna on my ladderrack! Any thoughts? Theoretically it makes sense. I'll probably use an omni antenna until I can rig up sometype of aperature that can "swing" a directional yagi from the inside of my truck. ![]() |

Hello,
Just got in a silver Wavelan card. Installed it and ran netstumbler... Was semi-amazed to pick up an AP other then mine while sitting in my study. Can't wait to try driving around the area and also getting an external antenna. Wondering if there are any stumblers in the Raleigh, NC area and what you have found.... -J |

e-knock,
Cool... I have only been able to make it out twice so far. Both my neighborhood and my old neighborhood have yielded 72 APs. Once I get an antenna I plan on driving around and mapping out the area. I was going to head down to Sanford, maybe we can meet up sometime around that area. |

Lifetap,
What kind of antenna would you suggest? Currently I've been driving around with a laptop w/wireless PC card. I'm familiar with antennas for APs, but for PC cards? Do you have to get a particular type of card so you can attach an extended antenna? Know of any articles with info? Sure, we might be able to stumble together some time. Thanks! |

RTP
I went stumbling yesterday in RTP. My God! Cisco had about 30 AP's. I was amazed. IBM had a good number. I also hit up Nortel, Verizon, MCI, and a few neighborhoods in the area. I was using my HP N5270 Laptop with a Compex USB WLU11A NIC.
