Hey guys - I just stumbled on this page today when I was curious and just added another wireless machine to my network (my powerbook finally got an AirPort card).
I was looking into this whole "war dialing" and thought it sounded cool. I'm going to take my powerbook with me to work (GWB and Tollway) and poke around around there some...feel free to contact me at enygma@flashmail.com or ccornutt@catalog.com if you want....it'd be cool to get a few beers and go looking... -enygma |

I have been driving in the DFW area for just over a month now. I am mostly covering the north area (Frisco, Plano). I have logged over 230 unique AP at last count (last week). There seems to be a bunch at some of the Frisco/Plano schools. One High School had 6, with no Encryption or MAC rejection. This week I have been driving near the Love Field area and I am not finding much.
I have access to a web hosting server so if you guys want to get a page up for the Dallas area let me know and we can get things going. I would also be intrested in what type of setups you guys are using. I am running an ORiNOCO Gold card with an external 3.5db antenna. Bish bish@schnivic.net |

I am running a Lucent/ORiNOCO Silver card with no antenna yet. I am building one this week but do not have a pigtail for the Lucent card. Anyone have one to spare or know where I can buy one? I would like to start collaborating with "local stumblers" to setup a site and get some maps posted. Martin and Enygma please email me and let's plan to go get some drinks or something and get some things rolling. Email me at wuming at antionline dot org.

heh....i work out in Plano/almost Frisco. I haven't gotten my stuff out there yet. The only real travel unit I have right now is my powerbook with the Airport card though, so I'm not sure how well I'd do.
I'm getting ready to move over to my own place (just out of school and all) and I was looking into DSL with an omni antenna or something once I move. Any suggestions? -enygma |

I would look into getting Sprint ION or something if it's available in your area. You can get a 1.5down 384up for 49.99 a month or pretty close to it. That encludes your phone service and long distance service. I'm not sure how it pans out though at the end of the month. (hidden charges etc..) Check it out. It looks like a good option to SWB or Verizon DSL.
