I am not quite local, but I am from Northern Illinois and did a little stumbling up into Kenosha/Racine/Milwaukee areas...
I'd be willing to swing up that way if you get anything together, help out however I can.

hey guys.
Wisconsin Rapids may not be in the Fox Cities area, but this was the only post I found concerning Wisconsin people in the forums. I am not experienced at this but I know what's going on... ![]() Anyways, ICQ me at 19873255 if you want to talk. |

I'm one! I'm in the Kenosha area. I've done some stumbling in the Kenosha/Racine area and also some IL area's. Just today, I stumbled through Buffalo Grove to Palatine, picked up 13 AP's on the main roads.

Wisconsin stumblers!
i have yet to come across any others out here, but i figure it worth a shot.
i live in racine, and i know there are stumblers in the milwaukee area, i would like to know if anyone in the racine county area (or kenosha etc.) that stumbles? or even up north around park falls since i visit up there once in a while. i have 2 known signal points so far, but my equipment is very limited, as is my budget, however 1 i found myself, the other i found online, and can find no trace of it anywhere. i live in the area of state st. and spring st. if anyone is interested, i do have a car, but my gf isn't keen on the idea of wardriving with me. equipment, as i mentioned, is severely bare, only a toshiba e-740, which mini stumbler does not work with, and the built in wifi applet used (constanty hitting rescan while driving is a tad dangerous lol) however i fear the range from within the car is severely limited to maybe 100 feet at most, judging from the signal i found, it might even be down to 30 feet from within the car, and it got stronger when i got out, but still only MAYBE 80 feet. in other equipment i have a few old laptops around, a couple of 486 dx 2 75 mhz laptops and a pentium 120 system with a dead HDD cable, however i have a version of linux running on it now from the floppy which runs in ramdisk, however my knowledge of linux is severly limited. Each system listed has 2 available pcmcia slots and the usual assortment of ports on the back, the P 120 has a cdrom, the ohters do not. i do not have any wifi cards for these systems, if anyone has one they would like to part with for semi cheap (50 bucks maybe?) so that i can attempt to stumble with my win 95 laptop that would be greatly appreciated, preferably one that works with netstumbler -=P however, if you would rather i loan it to you, i can also arrange that since its no big loss to me, the case is mostly destroyed by my girlfriend, however i going to change it to another case, i thought about possibly using one of those Pelican cases and just slapping in the components into it and attaching the screen to the upper lid section, kind of a heavy duty laptop case -=P |

Sweet!
Want a cool tip to make milwaukee pc's prices a little better? www.mpcparts.com it's their online store... if you call in the order, you can pick it up from their store off capitol in shorewood, you still have to pay the shipping charge though. Still about 20-40$ cheaper then the store prices though. |

Milwaukee Madison maps??
Well, I guess I should start off by saying that I'm a total noob at this stuff. I have a Lucent Wavelan on order, so I cant even stumble yet!!
Anyways, I was wondering if any of the Wisconsin stumblers know where I can get maps of the Milwaukee/Madison area with AP's marked on them. Is this even the right place to ask?? Please excuse my noobness. |

Try checking Wigle. It's a great program for viewing APs; you'll just need to download the appropriate map-pack for your area. The site also has an option for uploading your NetStumbler and Kismet log files.

I am so unhappy that the Chicago/northern Il scene is nto managing any connections...
Any Southern Wisconsin people managing some get togethers? Kenosha, Racine, etc...? I used to be a regular at the Port, there has to be people who stumble *AND* get drunk <smirk>
