info security stands show netstumbler - exhibitor lied
I thought it was quite funny to see it on a stand at infosec last week.
One exhibitor lied to me. "We write our own tool – er we found quite a few in here" Asked another on the same stand – he said they used Netstumbler The Register made a statement that said http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/55/25000.html found 15 AP P/P only we found 49 using other stuff. It only shows how crap wireless security was at this show – so called security experts….

We did a 1-day show a week ago and didn't use any security. Why?
Cuz the only data we were sending was data we *wanted* people to see. Our next show will be more of the same. If somebody wants to discover our AP with Net/Mini-stumbler with the company name, phone number, and where we are at the show, great! We plan on sending something a little more interesting than a website and ping traffic next time. But still don't care if people snoop. On the other hand. Back at HQ, a ReefEdge using IPSec is safe enough. :)

I was there as well and logged up to 29 wireless stations using sniffer pro 4.7 (wireless). Cannot believe that they are still selling the idea of wireless without informing clients the simplest of dangers.
PS Did I meet anyone? Was in the corner trying to hack a wireless demo whom were full of shit! |
