In the Sept issue of Popular Mechanics, Netstumbler along with wireless networking in general, is covered in a two page article. At last, some press which shows netstumbler in a relatively positive light:
"So now that you're ready, how do you find a node? Well, you can check with www.netstumbler.com, which distributes Windows-only software that sniffs out wireless networks in your area." It also has a brief quote from a guy named Tim Pozar, from the Bay Area Wireless User Group, as well of some other information about community wireless access and a bunch of links. At the time of this post, Popular Mechanics hadn't updated their site with the Sept. articles, so you guys will probably have to grab one of the newsstand or wait until they update. One little fact I thought was interesting was the stats they mention about the growth of wireless networking: From 1999 to 2001, there was a 1147 percent increase in the number of wireless networking devices, from 1.4 million to over 16 million.
