Oh and Thorn, went to Flying Saucer last night for a brew.. you do know they serve a cider bearing your name right?

"Blackthorn Dry" from SomerSet England
http://www.beerknurd.com/
is their website

its served at the Houston location but did not see it on another location's map

On a more lighter note.. remember when I posted about those cheezy Airlink cards, the ones for 10 bucks from Outpost? Friend of mine and I were testing the range on them from a static AP of mine.. VERY impressive.. about 200 feet thru several walls at his apt. (we put my AP in his place and went to his neighbors 2 doors down)

I am starting to look at routes I have driven and going to go over them again since we all know its after Christmas and new routers have been bought
Great news. Any kind of surgery is stressful not only for the patient but for the family as well. It's good to hear your dad is doing better as well as your brother and mom.

I'll have to check out that antenna concentrator, looks interesting.

Finally got kiswin32 running with gpsd and uploaded my first new networks with that setup. Nothing all that impressive (stumbled these areas many, many times before) but its nice to see GPS data with kismet/windows. 83 networks this month so far, try to keep up guys!

those concentrators basically allow you to feed 1 antenna into 2 radio cards or 2 antennas into 1 radio.. they even have 4 to 1's so you see how they can be useful...

Thanks. I saw those but didn't realize that it was the same thing that I was looking for.

Designed to split signal to two antennas with one radio or combine signal from two radios to one antenna.
Reading the description would help.

Are those coax connectors?

Great news on the job and the family. Sometimes life gets in the way of fun. I'm thinking of adding a second card so each card will scan different sets of channels, a second omni and two antenna's pointing out each side in the back. I'd use the amp on the two omni's.

Yea, I think they are N connectors. Kinda funny they don't say what they are on the site.

Petzl and I have quite a little battle going for 5th place but I think I can stay ahead of him.
I fired up kismet when I took a friend to his house in a small local college town that I covered about 6 months ago. This was just a drive right to his house, out to his place of work and then out of town. No gridding or anything. I picked up 200+ new, so Santa must have been good to the little kiddies this year! I guess I'd better get out and re-drive my home town, it's been over a year and that was before I had kismet running.

Absolutely! Especially if you were not using Kismet the last time. Just Kismet will add 50 - 60% much less the growth over a year and after Christmas. I "try" to stumble our college campus areas and housing every 6 months to catch the new students coming in. Checking out the new coeds is a nice dividend too!

Our housing growth has been amazing. I took a drive yesterday out to an area that used to be just farm houses and wheat fields 25 miles out of town. I was surprised to find 3 square sections of farm land turned into housing editions. There's no town or infrastructure out there just wheat fields. It's like that all over the place around here. Most of them are houses in the 3,000 sq ft range or bigger. We can't figure out where all the money or people are coming from but it sure does help my WiGLE stats. None of them are on any mapping software or Google Earth. I just have to drive the section lines and keep good notes for return visits. I never know where I'll run into an area like that.

Congratulations to Wrzwaldo for jumping two positions in one day right into the top ten (81,040 to 85,689)! Good work. Now we have four team members in the top ten and two in the top five. Not too shabby.

That's what Denver looked like. The 757 pilot friend of mine has been near Denver for 15 years, and said that most of the outlying area was flowers and grasslands up to 5 years ago. BIG houses, $1 to $1.5 M. Area real estate person indicated that most folks were getting 'interest only' mortgages to be able to afford them. (How STUPID can you get?)

Blackthorn is good, I got into a bunch of it while over in the UK doing a 50-AP install back before Christmas. I suggest you try Strongbow, however. Much better flavor, IMHO.

Hey Mark, looks like I might be in OKC in a couple weeks, driving. Interested in stumbling and/or adult beverages, albeit not simultaneously?

Not having obtained a mortgage quite a while, I'm guessing that means that someone is never paying against the principal? If that's true, then it strikes me as being extremely stupid. What good would it do you? You'd never have any equity, and you'd never pay the damned thing off. You might as well pay rent.
