Group Stats for April 2006

Better late than never, here's the monthly stats for April 2006 which I was supposed to post on the 1'st of May:
Group Stats for April 2006
The string of impressive months for the group continues, with Mark571 setting another personal record with 58817 new detected networks with GPS, almost 1/3 of the groups total detections this month.
Other noteworthy achievements this month : Wrzwaldo joined the Wigle MillionMilestone club, by snagging the sixth million network with GPS, all the top 5 uploaders had 5 digit uploads, and overall the group managed to detect 188657 new networks with GPS.

Top 5 uploaders for April:
1 mark571 58817 - 31.17 %

2 Chuckster 44411- 23.54 %
3 wrzwaldo 29999 - 15.90 %
4 goldfndr 13065 - 6.92 %
5 ccie4536 11398 - 6.04 %

Uploaders for April:
mark571, ccie4526, wrzwaldo, goldfndr, Dutch, beakmyn, Chuckster, Deoje, freg, aquatechie, banstorm, King_Ice_Flash, wham, PSYKO, Beard, barry99705, WarD, littledave, topper4125, cfdisk, c21h30o2, skwifi, itsnotme, TaZMaNiaK

Top 3 Longest time since uploads:
1 Netforce 2 years 2 month 8 days ago
2 sykojester 1 year 10 months 11 days ago
3 ThreePts 1 year 9 months 7 days ago

This groups ability to keep on surpassing previous achievements continues to amaze and humble me. I'm proud being associated with you all. Keep up the good work.

It would appear that Ccie4526 is on track to pass Israel for 3rd place worldwide this month if the current production rates hold. Goldfndr is catching Huma_d but looks to be more than a month out from passing him. Dutch's surge in production has him in position to pass arkasha, gsm134, and possibly NetBandit in short order.

This forecast has been brought to you by the Beef Council. Eat more beef and make bigger turds.

As the guys out back say, you can only roll a turd down a pipe so far before it's rolled into nothing.

Unless you eat a lot of Grape-nuts cereal and then you wind up with gravel.

Did the WiGLE guys give up and throw in the towel? Site seems to be down this morning.

Once I get the GPS fired up I should be able to log a handful of APs here in Baghdad.

Cool. Hopefully they'll get the WiGLE.net site back up so you can post them.

Theres just no stopping that Oklahomian of ours. Another group milestone achieved by Mark57 : The groups 1,500,000'th detected network with gps was snagged by him with his latest upload today. Congrats are in order.

Next group milestone will be a moving one : less than 1 percent left before fully one quarter of all networks with gps in the Wigle dataset has been detected by a NS Forums Wigle Group member.

Thanks. Lately, I've been playing around by stumbling with multiple antennas, multiple cards, and multiple laptops to see what combinations yield the best results. One thing is for sure, it's producing results in nets found. It also seems to have woken up Hratch after a long post drought.

I put some Northern VA and Maryland sites up last week. Just what I was able to pick up on a single trip to / from work one day. Thought I would do more by taking a smaller sized laptop but for some unknown reason my Dell D410 sees my GPS as COM 10 or COM 11 and NetStumbler only goes up to COM8.

Did not have much better luck with my 12-Inch PowerBook G4 either. The BU-303 shows up as a USB device and MacStumbler is looking for it as a TTY. Have not had time to even look into that but maybe this coming week I'll spend some time searching for a way to solve that issue. Maybe this coming week I will find some free cycles.

I finally broke into the 5 digit AP count over the weekend, but my wardriving will be curtailed a while as I have lent my GPS to a friend that has gotten into GeoCaching and wants to test my GPS to compare some things. She is looking for a good GPS and wanted to test mine so, I can still drive, just cannot tag em with co-ordinates.

I'm guessing that it's a BT GPS ? If that is the case, and you are using the Widcomm BT stack, just reassign the virtual BT comport to a lower number. AFAIR it's in the Widcomm specific control panel. If You are using WinXP's native BT stack, you reassign the comport number in the Device Manager.

Change to KisMac, AFAIR it does support GPS's that shows up as usb devices.

Yep, considering he blew past me sometime way back with all of that stuff out there in the LA Basin. Nevertheless, I'm shooting to get back up in the standings.

Go for it ccie4526.. I'm currently having a "grudgematch" with Arkasha for the 16'th place on the overall stats.. But it got him posting again after a hiatus of 4-5 months. I'm currently holding on by 206 networks, after having been displaced by him one time allready.

He's threatening to go stumbling with fakeap, just to be safe, because I'm planning to hit Copenhagen's neighbour in Sweden, Malmö city, which currently only has got 1396 networks plotted.

If the weather holds, we're going there for lunch tomorrow, and while <Rumpole of the Bailey>She Who Must Be Obeyed</Rumpole of the Bailey> is going to abuse the CC in the stores, I'll be out stumbling the town for 3-4 hours. It's a fair trade IMHO
