Ok, finally remembered that JiGLE will interface with kismet and gpsd for real-time info. Wish I'd have thought about that this morning before going out.

Anyway, just loaded jigle up, snagged a couple mappacks, but can't get it to download any data from wigle to save my life. Is it just because the system is constipated (read: everyone having the problem) or just me?

It bogs my system to a crawl when I run both at the same time.

I just now downloaded the data for OK county. Yes, it was slow but it did finally bring the data down after 20+ minutes. For what it's worth, JiGle has always been slow for me on the weekends, especially Sundays. First time downloads of a new mappack seem to take longer than differential downloads.

What county and state? I may already have them updated and can send the autocache to you to make it quicker.

Edit: I can download data for about 5 counties with JiGle in quick succession and then it pauses for a long time like access is being throttled. After 30 minutes or so it starts downloading again. I've seen this before when it's busy. Also, these are counties that previously had data downloaded. Hope that helps.

Yep, that's about what I'm seeing... trying to get everything current is no fun. Right now I'm mainly doing the counties in/around Austin (Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop) since that's where I'll be trolling today/tomorrow.

That's a good side question... where does one find maps of the various counties in the various states? I'm running back up to Sioux Falls later this coming week, and would like to get some mappacks, but have no idea what county is applicable. And yes Dutch, I know all my answers are belong to google. I told you before, my search-fu is weak.

I found a really good map site that has accurate PDF's of state maps with counties http://nationalatlas.gov/ under the printable maps link. It also has a cool map generator you can play when you have time.

I've found other map sites that the counties were incorrect.

PS, You can't get to Sioux Falls through OK. The bridges have been mined so you'll need to go around. Something about stumblers with mass-suckage equipment or something like that.

Use good ol' Gargle Earth and turn on the borders/2nd level admin areas. (Counties!)

Minnehaha county, SD, BTW

I'll have a look at that, thank you!

LOL no worries there. I'm via air from Houston to Omaha, then driving a rental car. The bare portable magmount will be it for that.

OTOH, just wait until I get my airplane and outfit it for warflying. Just need a few more pennies though.

The US census has some good maps as well.

Dunno if it's just how my G.E. is configured but while I can see the county borders, it doesn't show the names of those counties. Hmmm.

This one covers it spectacularly. In fact, this page here:
http://www.census.gov/geo/www/maps/stco_02.htm
takes you right to the list of state county maps.

And yes, last night was VERY productive up here.

FYI, I had noticed that it wouldn't show the county names until you'd zoomed in past a certain level. Maybe that's what is going on.

I like the PDF that has all the counties in all the states on one map. It makes it easy to see where adjacent counties are in different states, etc.

What was "her" name.

I see someone from the greater Atlanta area has stumbled their way to my backyard over the last couple of days. They might be here for the Big-12 men's & women's basketball tournament that's going on this week. About 200,000 new people downtown this week.

Ok, I'm curious, how the frick are you getting that? My options in Jigle don't seem to allow me to "not" display APs older than a given point on the slider bar, regardless of how I have the date filter set, they only "not" display the ones NEWER than that slider point.

Edit: Grr, you've constipated the wigle queue again.
