Last place I worked, the office had alot and I mean ALOT of laptops that were connecting wifi using a 128 bit WEP key. I decided to do let my laptop run in my truck using one of those cheezy airlink 10 dbi omni's for internal use. (hooked laptop up to one of those all in one battery car jumpers.. mine has a 400 watt inverter, 2 AC plugs and 2 Cig lighter plugs, basically add that to my 2 batteries on the laptop I had 11 hours of run time) I did some packet gathering.. in about 2 hours I had well over 150,000 packets. It would not take someone long to crack this place.

I pointed this out to the main admin and he said he did not care, that running wires was something he did not like to do.
Mine were from my trip to Foxboro, MA, obviously someone has already run across the that area.

I have no idea who that could have been.

Must be nice. I drover from Ashburn, VA to Williamsburg, VA today and hoped to collect a lot of sites. Had a total of 2600 AP's but no GPS with any of them. I run gpsd -n -S 2947 -p /dev/ttyUSB0 without error and Kismet shows GPS acquired but no coordiantes are being logged. Since I traded my MacBook Pro in I am using a Dell D400 running BackTrack 2 from the hard drive. Card is an Enterasys Roamabout (Orinoco gold) with an external mag mount Thorn passed out at DefCon. The USB puck is a BU-303 which worked great with the MBP and KisMAC.

Anyone have any ideas?

Start gpsd and see if it passing data

Code:
telnet localhost 2947
Are you sure the usb plug didn't come loose and you didn't notice it?

Shoulda kept the mac. Oh, that's one more thing that's broken with 10.5, the wireless drivers changed again, so no monitor mode with airport express. They're working on it though.

Nah....I imagine that when you come back to Houston, you could stay in same hotel, even drive the same path from hotel to your client in Houston and gather up more AP's

I get a "GPSD" when I telnet into the port when inside. I will try it again when I am outside tomorrow on the way home.

Trust me, you would not want to work there.

Hmmm, what part of Houston was this in again? I'm about to be spending LOTS of quality time down there again.

Hit 'r' (for RAW) and enter, and you should start getting NMEA output. By default when you telnet to the gpsd port, you won't get any output unless you query for it.

Where's Dutch, he's our gpsd experten.

What you say is that GPS is running fine but it does not have a "lock" from the GPS itself so it won't show co-ords. You try the old version Dutch provides (search).

Using "r" would of bend helpful information to have sorry. I checked on the BT live cd and it shows gpsd as version 2.33 and kismet build 2006. Thats a problem. Beakmyn has the right idea.

Hint: its this thread around 1600
