7zip can do gzip, and bzip, and tar, and zip. Plus its free http://7zip.org

Not necessary to move it over to the *nix box, gzip executable for different platforms available here.

I replaced WinRAR on my windows machine with 7zip. 7zs have better compression than rars and not only that you can create archives in gzip bzip2 tar and zip. I really recommend it.

Ok, I got the 175m file down to 21m and now it's uploaded and being parsed.

It has I think 6500+ ap's in it. I lost some due to file corruption of my original Ns1 files. I have 7300+ in my own database. I think the descrepancy lies in that when I upload the data in my own system, I use a summary and write the summary before I close NS. It appears that on some files were corrupt when the summary was written and the NS1 file is now unreadable past a certain part.

I could use the trick that Thorn talked about and re-import all my summary files and create one more big file and pick up the lost ones. But that's a job for tomorrow.

Yeah, I was pushed out of the top one hundred. Time to find some APs I haven't posted.

EDIT:
Whew! Back in the top 100. (Barely clinging on at #95.) That last tip to NYC netted ~200 new APs.
