I know the feeling, spent last couple of weeks tinkering with mods. Now that I need everything to work... IT DOESN"T!!!! . With all the various drivers I've put on my notebooks, both are all hosed up. Orinoco gold has become nearly useless with all the new pre-n I'm seeing. I made a new weather proof enclosure for my USB adapters and apparently picked the wrong paint because it inhibiting their operation. My TI based card has developed some sort of problem and the list goes on... So I picked up another card today which is Atheros based and will hopefully have it mod'd and up and running in the next hour.... cross my finger.

What the hell kind of paint did you get? That stuff Kari and Scotty wanted to paint on Earl for the Radar tests?

Some off brand flat black.. It kills my signal by nearly 40%. The housing is just thin wall pvc which I've used before and it was cut from the same piece. The paint was the only difference.

I've done that before, but never with a file that large. I'm running Auditor, so when I power down, everything goes away. I always cp the file over, then cd to the flash drive to verify the files before I shut down.

GOOD NEWS! I was able to recover the files. Dual booting can be a good thing. I found a utility (R-Linux) on the web that reads Ext2FS file systems from Win9x, ME, NT, 2K, and W2K3 and can undelete, etc. I booted to XP, ran the utility and scanned the Linux partition without risk of writing to it. So that's 1,142 with GPS that I got back. YES!!

Sorry to hear that. If you remember, I didn't upload at all this month until a week ago. I was trying to get Kismet going and downgrade the firmware on my Gold card. I wound up getting a Senao SL-2511CD PLUS EXT2 and am using it. The lockups were killing me to. I had the 872 firmware and was able to knock it back to 810 but no further. Rather than miss stumbling time, I switched cards and play with the gold card when I can.

I'm running Knoppix 3.8.1 installed Debian style to the HD with XP. At one point after I decided what I wanted, I formated the Laptop and reinstalled everything. I like it a lot better now than booting from the CD. I also have Auditor. I tried Auditor and SUSE, and downloaded Slackware and a few others but haven't gotten a chance to play with them yet.

Damn!

S'ok, I picked up another thousand this morning myself.

And since the hospital has got their head stuck somewhere, I've been working on ACPI on my laptop. Fing Inspiron 5100. Doesn't behave very nicely at all. Think I've at least got CPU throttling working, gotta squeeze out those extra bits of time out of the battery, until the new DC/DC adapter gets back to the US. Thanks for the info, Dutch!!!
