Wigle.net setups group stats. - Page 5

I'm acutally in a better area, a little over an hour north of Seattle (depending on traffic). We are lacking on snow this year I heard that the Mt Baker ski area (about an hour away) was going to re-open today, but the rest of the areas are closed (in state).

Oak Harbor here...no other wardrivers on Whidbey at least according to WiGLE. 99.9% of the finds are mine.

Thats cool. I had considered making a drive to the base last WWWD but just ran out of time. I was able to get some time in Anacortes though.

I work on the base and was curious to find two or three networks (I'll have to look up my log to see exactly what and where they were), surprising considering the base is NMCI and as far as I know, NMCI doesn't have any wireless activity here.

I went out for a quick drive today, didn't go more than 5 miles from my house, came home with 302 AP's with 134 new ones since christmas time. Using Beakmyn's way cool tool for repairing Ns1 files I was able to add a total of 375 to our groups stats tonight.

I have plans to hit a few new developments this week.

I hit the university district last night (kind of on my way home, LOL) and picked up 588. I found a couple of virgin areas on wigle that I'll grab this week.

I just found some more files that I had lying around and not uploaded. They're up now, but I still have a 500 record descrepancy between my own db and what I've uploaded to Wigle, so I must still be missing some files somewhere.

I had NS running when I went to Ballard for Volvo parts.. Not one hit I got from I-5 to the Ballard bridge (via 45th) 'counted' on Wigle, and it was going nuts the whole time. Picked up 20-30 new ones going through the U district to the Hospital and out though. What was kind of weird was Coal Creek Parkway. Dropped the wife off at Nordstroms' Rack and almost every hit in that area counted as new. Looks like south of I-90 and east of I-405 might be a target to hit. Poked around Mt Vernon and picked up about 120 new, mostly east of the hospital.

The surprise was WWU area in B'ham. Lots of hits, and a large percentage were new. WiGle says 840 new total for my Whatcom County file. I need to cruise Fairhaven yet.

I try to run NS on trips down to SeaTac, occasionally I get a few new hits but nothing spectacular, I-5 is pretty much covered.

I mostly stick to Whidbey Island/Oak Harbor, and then sometimes Mt. Vernon and Burlington but haven't been out that way in a while. There is still a wealth of the island to explore.

Yeah the schools are good for yearly fresh APs.

I just uploaded 2 NS1 files on Wigle.net. I was surprised that it ranked me #485 out of over 1000.

I also joined the netstumbler group, on that site I am WarD.

I guess I need to go hit downtown. I have picked up a few hundred with a quick drive with no GPS. Kinda like dry humping so I didn't upload those.

Bellingburg seems to be on the upswing in terms of number of APs showing up.
Lotsa new housing projects going in, and every other one seems to have an AP.

BTW, I stopped by Frys' and picked up a 7dbi indoor. Ripped out the guts, put a short new cable + N connector on it and mounted it in a chunk of polybutyl tubing. Built a home-made mount using some brass tubing and steel sheet then added hard drive magnets and plopped it on the roof. Fed a 8' length of 3/8" super-flex inside and hooked 'er up.

I can't believe the difference. Added to the detection range by at least 150' by using the neighbors' AP as a guinea pig.

Yeah wardriving without a GPS is like fucking an ugly chick. Sure it's fun while you're doing it you just hope none of your friends find out.
