Thanks. From what I saw, there's another 500,000+ or so just waiting for someone in the greater Dallas area. It looks "sort of covered" on WiGle, but it's not.

Yeah.. And untill 3 hours ago I had a lead of around 1400 from that damn five-spot usurper wrzwaldo.

Now it's only 201.

I really hate it when he does that...

I was going to wait until I had a bit more but I got kismet up and running and decided to dump some of todays APs. I forgot how well kismet works. The APs I got today were from an area previously hit with NS.

Note: Looks like the WiGLE forums have inherited a spamtard.

Looks like they've picked up at least three.

I've been driving around Denver a bit, had over 1k APs in RAM (STD-Kismet) and the battery dumped and I lost the whole thing. Apparently, the inverter quit when I stopped for a drink, and restarting the car caused it to 'hiccup'. Of course I didn't pick up on the power LED being dark on the power supply. Knoppix doesn't know how to make the laptop squawk on low battery either.

Crap. Well, at least I know where the high density stuff is now, and re-driving it won't take long.

Dammit AS. I know that a job worth doing well is worth doing twice, but anyways...

Why not install Knoppix-std to HD, and dual boot ? If you need help, just holler.

Dutch

P.S. BTW, a belated congrats on joining the ranks of the grown-ups with a 4 digit postcount

I want some of what you've been drinking to forget that little gem. It's hard to convince people until they actually try it.

Early this week in Dallas, I drove by some massive office building campus areas that showed to have been stumbled pretty well. I started a new log for the area to check results later. In 15 minutes of circling 8 buildings, I netted almost 2,000 new AP's over what was already logged there. I just kept circling back and forth until Kismet went silent.

I've learned to pick my drive times carefully in the bigger cities. I did this at 6am when I could drive very slow and not get killed by the traffic. Dallas folks don't drive slow, just like in Denver so it's hard to cover some areas as well as you'd like and stay safe.

I feel your pain. After doing that twice in a couple of days, I went with a HD install. Best thing I ever did.

Danke. Grown-up? Got you fooled!

I've installed STD to a separate HD and managed to get my paws on a used drive caddy that fits the Dell D800 so all I have to do is swap the drive. I just haven't taken time to get it running right yet. After this incident, that will change. (After I get home!)

I maybe taking you up on the help offer though, as Linux is not an area I'm real familiar with. (But I'm learning.)

Thanks,
Steve

You might wanna see a doctor about that. I think a simple shot will clear it right up.

The total is currently 799573, I'm pretty confident I'm going to get it past the 800k mark. Uploaded around 5000 APs, hopefully at least a few are new.

NW Everett traversing E/W, plus meandering back to Bellevue (for those in the Seattle area).

If you're near Seattle why don't you take I-90East till you reach the other end? That'll get you a few

Maybe someone else will drive I-95 too?

Well Done goldfndr. You snagged the group's 800 thousand'th AP with GPS data. 200K more to go for the big fireworks and there will be a prize for the 1 million'th AP for the group.
