Don't get too excited but the WiGLE queue is down to 2, not that it'll stay that way.

The Wigle folks could really help their system by first flushing the 2+ million bogus networks out of their system. And put in place filters to stop the abusive cheating.

A few miles under the belt

Wow...
Just reading parts of this thread tonight and I had to chuckle. At least I had given you guys something to shoot for.
Here is a map of my US first discovered. You can't see AK or Page Ranking on here, but I don't have any from Hawaii yet.
Anyway, have fun, kids....

It's been discussed here and there already.

I posted my newest "found by me" map the other day. With all the crap AP's that had been dumped into the WiGLE database, the global numbers race hasn't seemed as important. Yes, there was a small purge but there are a few areas that are still laughable. So, I've looked for other ways to keep this interesting for me like finding new AP's in every county in the state, etc.

PS, the guy who lost a ton of his uploads in NW Arkansas has been busy putting them right back.

Sorry CCIE4526.. A belated congrats in bringing the group over the 900K mark. I think there might be a race for group 1M mark though.. Thinking of a prize for it, at the moment.

Otherwise my stumbling has been limited due to health. There's only so many ways that lead from home to the hospital, and I've stumbled all of them so far.
Todays take was a staggering amount of two (2) new networks, and I can see that goldfndr allready is taking a hefty 501 lead after passing me yesterday.
Unfortunately I can't post a monthly stats this month, as my datascreenscraping script didn't run before the stats had reset for January.
If somebody did get the group stats as they stod on the 31'st december around 23:50+ please PM it to me, and I'll get the monthly stats posted asap.

On my last couple of drives, I've noticed that there are several new "Christmas present" networks showing up in places where the count was static or previously non-existent.

I've also been experimenting with my Kismet channel hopping scheme while dodging massive grass fires.

Really? I could swear it was wrzwaldo that did that, but perhaps not.

Yeah, I was tempted to pass beakmyn later tonight, but since I've been here so long I'm out of time - maybe later this week.

I'm thinking that, if there's ANY complete capture from ANY day in December, some arithmetic would allow one to calculate the end of the month stats. For each person, it'd be [today's total] + [mid-december's earnings] - [today's earnings] - [mid-december's total]. Checked the math, it seems to work for a sample case.

Less than 30k to the 5 mil with location milestone. Let's make sure one of us ends up with it! I have a lot of faith in our team, but I'm not sure we can do it this month...

Someone want to prove me wrong in the next 2 wks?

Sounds like fun! I'm clogging up WiGLE right now.

Today, I finally got all my GPS drop out problems fixed that I've been fighting for the last 6 months. I said to heck with my laptop, formatted it and reinstalled Nix and configured everything from scratch. Now I can drive through the urban canyons downtown, under bridges, you name it and at worst it goes to a 2D lock. Woo Hooo! I'm using this GPSD, thanks again Dutch! No more uploading 30+ files because I had to keep stopping and startig Kismet.

Thank ya sir! I had uploaded a big tar.gz earlier today, and forgot to check back in and see how it did. There were a few more in there than I thought.
