Alvarion Breezenet PC-DS.11b works

FYI ALL... Per suggestion posting this here.

Alvarion Breezenet PC-DS.11b (rebadged orinoco gold) works in Netstumbler.

It works for me with standard drivers from Alvarion, no hacking. I have not had any errors whatsoever with Alvarion's drivers (which are lucent's, rebadged) in win2k sp2. Drove around a little in Tulsa and have a .NS1 file with 255 networks with gps coords.

The cards can be had brand new for $49 + shipping from pricewatch vendors, so just trying to let everyone know.

Here is a link to a vendor:

Here is manufacturer's PDF:

http://www.alvarion-usa.com/RunTime/...S11_indoor.pdf

And product page:

Cheers all!
Justin

NOTE: Found this out hard way-Do not download and install the PC-DS.11 drivers, this is an old FHSS card and will jack up your registry for installing the right drivers (PC-DS.11b drivers).

Breezenet drivers

Can you explain what the problem is with the drivers? Where did you get good drivers if the one you mention doesn't work? I purchased my Breezenet card via Pricewatch.com. It appears to be working (according to all the software) but I have yet to encounter any APs "in the wild". This was purchased strictly for stumbling, as I don't yet have my own wireless network. Thoughts?

jpainter, I didn't get anything with my card. I contacted tech support and was pointed to appropriate drivers online. Everything appears to be working, but I have yet to find an AP. Unfortunately I do not have any other wireless equipment to test against. I'm relying on finding something "in the wild" at this point to confirm operation of my equipment.

FYI, My version info:

Client Manger - Variant 1, Version 2.18
NDIS 5 Miniport driver - Variant 1, Version 7.08
PC Card Type-II Extended - Variant 1, Version 4.02

Firmware
Primary Functions firmware - Variant 1, Version 4.04
Station Functions Firmware - Variant 2, Version 7.52

I don't think they have the right drivers up on the site. IF you downloaded the drivers from

http://www.alvarion.com/RunTime/Supp...?tNodeParam=82

Those are the wrong ones. If your email can handle 20 meg I can email you the RAR image of the right CD, or I can stuff it up on an FTP server if you want.

BreezeNET is finally working

Everything worked fine today! I was riding as a passenger, so I propped my laptop on my knees, and raised it high up in the car, almost level with the windows ( I have no external antenna yet ). It was amazing! I picked up 40 APs on my way home from DC into Northern VA. This card must be totally unable to receive if it's just sitting on the car seat.

Anyway, it's working fine. Alvarion does have the correct drivers online now at:

http://www.alvarion-usa.com/RunTime/...tNodeParam=100

Next step is to build a nice little omni to set on the dash. I'm looking at multiple simple designs here:

http://www.geocities.com/lincomatic/...chantenna.html

Just need to find the proper pigtails. I know about http://www.fab-corp.com/ but I'm hoping to find a source locally (Northern VA or DC). No luck so far... Will keep all informed thru appropriate forums. Happy Stumbling!
