3com 3crwe62092a
What are your general impressions of the 3com 3crwe62092a?
I got one from 3COM for free because I was signed up to evaluate their wireless products. I think it is an ok card, the XJack pop in/out connector is great, but the range is poor and it dosent have an external jack, my Orinoco Gold is so much better with the exception of the big builtin antenna. I semi got netstumbler to work with the card, but there are several issues with the driver for Windows XP. There are 2 versions of the drivers for the 3com 3crwe62092a Product Details Drivers Quote:

i too think it's an ok card... i got a good deal on 2 of them so i bought them. plus the xjack antenna is great...
it doesnt has a good range at all, i rather have a orinoco,... but then again, when i bought them i didn't knew netstumbler existed so... later on i got mad... about the drivers... one of them is the latest version of the client software, and the other is the newest driver and firmware upgrades... puting this card on active scan mode, will not let you pick up anything with NS, at least in my personal case... in other words, the card works great in my home network, i get a signal everywhere in the house, and my house is biiig, easy to use, and affordable... not the best stumbling card around, but it works... i'm gonna buy a orinoco this xmas for my stumbling setup... |

i got my USB adapter working too... it goes like this:
system: fujitsu lifebook c340 os: windows xp pro wifi card: Linksys WUSB11 (USB Adapter) NS: 0.3.30 this setup works soo much better than my last one... this USB adapter seems to have a lot more sensitivity to AP's, plus i can stick it on my car's roof as if it was one of those mag-mounts.. hehe |

Netgear MA401 wireless card in NDIS mode (Ndis 5.1) works for me...
This only worked though on my second winxp install , don't know what was wrong with the first one! It reported it couldn't find the card (in ndis mode) and could only tell me signal strength for my own network at home in prism2 mode. Now I have it working though, whenever I'm running in ndis mode I can detect other AP's but I'm primarily detecting myself with my own MAC address and SSID , and of course I'm getting perfect signal with no noise... Any idea's on how to get rid of that one? Warren |

I should add that if I de-configure myself from my local AP and then try and stumble I detect nothing at all.. so I have to be configured to an access point first and then start stumbling.. wierd hey?
Also , I notice when my own net shows up (under my SSID) I only detect my own MAC address, and a couple other addresses which are obviously just modified versions of my own (multi-bit errors in them may be causing this? only guessing!) They all end in the same bytes though and start with the same , and don't match up to any MAC addresses actually on the same network... Lucky I still have kismet and linux around ![]() |

Linksys 0560 on a Toshiba Eseries lifebook running xp pro. Using Prism2 driver device under NS. downloaded latest firmware and drivers before doing anything. Works great. NS 0.3.3

Successful config:
Dell Latitude 500 linksys wpc11 WinXP home edition Works great so far, although I havent gone wardriving yet, and using netstumbler renders normal internet access unavailable, even after I exit netstumbler. Restarting the computer takes care of this problem. Im not sure if reseting the network connection would have the same effect. |

took me a while but i got it working.
Win XP Pro Compaq Armada M700 US Robotics 2410 it's not the best card, but it can be hacked to add an external antenna, (which was a big help). what you have to do is to download the newest drivers and firmware from USR (the new firmware gave about a 25% boot to the signal strength) install netstumbler and switch from the prism settings to the nids settigns and it works perfectly. |
