My tutorial on building Tetra Brik waveguide antennas

I wrote up a detailed tutorial (just half a notch above spoonfeeding) on waveguide antennas using Tetra Brik soup boxes. These used to be uncommon in the US, but now Swanson is selling chicken broth in them, and you can find the product in virtually any supermarket.

Here's the link:

Novilio's Tetra Brik Wi-Fi Antenna Tutorial

Not quite as good as a spaghetti sauce can, but you can make one (if you're careful) with a sharp Swiss Army knife and a soldering iron.

Just an FYI, milk and tomato sauce is also sold in the Tetra Brik packages in many areas, under the brand name of Parmalat. The milk container is 1qt. (946ml), and measures 3-5/8W x 7-3/4H x 2-1/4D (8.12cm x 17.36cm x 5.04cm).

Thumbs up 802.11b/g antennas - EtherDesigns.Com

Hi All!

I thought I'd share my good experience with a company called "EtherDesigns" at www.EtherDesigns.com

They sell custome made cantennas and other 802.11b items (pigtails, omni antennas). I started to build my own cantenna, but his guy has designed a nice model, better than the Super Cantenna.

The FabCorp antenna that Netstumbler and Etherdesigns sell is a great antenna!! I bought one of the cheaper mag-mounts off eBay and was dissappointed in the results. I then bought the FabCorp and found it performed much better, and you don't need a metal surface to use it!

Just wanted to let everyone know!

DIY or buy it assembled.

I've had very good service from http://www.aerialix.com. They provide kits for the guerrilla.net low-pwr omni design.

I bought a kit and found it very easy to assemble. The other cool thing for those DIY'ers out there that hobbled together a mount out of wood, cable ties and hoseclamps, is that the mount can be
used to mount thier omni-directional antennas or any you constructed that end with an N bulkhead connector.

They also have competitive prices for custom cables, and a pretty quick turn around time.
