Radio masts/towers ?

This looks like the right place post this question?
I've seen some 'helix'?(tube) type antenna about the right size to 2.4Ghz, anyone found any AP's at these masts etc i.e on top hills etc. Guess they could be just regular RF radio links OR network control for the comms!!? (I don't have a spectrum analyser!)

Dave...

always looking UP!

Might these be [lower frequency] yagis inside weather-proofing *tubes* ?

The utility companies 'round here have stuff like this installed for the remote monitoring of their plant.

Speaking of such things, has anyone noticed a lot of yagi around stop signals? The look about 2.4 GHz range too, apparently not 802.11b though.

Ummm...if you're thinking about what I'm thinking of, those aren't Yagis...they are Opticom

It's an optical receiver with a long aiming tube on it to receive the flashing strobes from emergency vehicles approaching the light.

About 3 seconds after activation, it turns green.

Anybody got one of these? Probably more fun than a laser jammer.

Wonder if you can put a filter in the device or output IR so your use wouldn't be visible???

Of course, if they are RF devices, they could be links to a traffic monitoring center so timing can be actively controlled.
