Guys we need to make the script use more mapping programs.

There is roughly 24% of users on this forum comming from Australia/NZ and alot more comming from areas outside of the US ane EUROPE.

Being in Australia myself im bios but im sure you can see the impacts of getting this script to work on a program that would support garmin gps's or australian/african/japan maps ect?

I'm using the script as is with a Garmin unit. As far as getting it to work on other programs, as long as the other programs supports wmi scripting it would be possible. Right now that list includes MS Mappoint only (I think)? I did notice however you said "we need to" so there you go, get to work on it.

Would be a perfect program if it supported scripting. Like I said in my previous post the only mapping software AFAIK that supports this is MapPoint.

Thanks guys!! I have wanted something like this for a long time!!!!

Its great to hear the Ap being told to you, i was so tired of the blue glow in the car just asking for me to be pulled over at night!! I have been using delorme sa 2004+ just so i could use the mobile map colors that turns the screen black! I wish someone could write that into a script for map point 2004!!

Again guys thanks for all the hard work for making this script keep getting better and better!!!!!

this script sounds awsome, im gonna get a copy of mappoint for $46 (educational discount) and then try it out. Say I want to have all the access points for my whole city on the mappoint map. Can I easily keep adding new data to the same map? Or will that be hard. I read the whole thread but fell short of an answer. Thanks Agian.

If you're using NetStumbler in conjunction with MapPoint then you can just reopen whichever .ns1 file you're using to collect any additional AP's and then generate another map with the updated/additional info.

You can add new AP's to the same map and if you pick up one that's already on the map but with a stronger signal it should move it to the new position. You've got to remember that it may take longer to load up with a lot of access points.

I used your zip to customize a couple of things and create separate scripts for each of them, so they can be changed easy in NetStumbler by choosing a different script.

I'll explain why I made the modifications point by point.

- When the default voice is enabled, the option is stated as "empty", there's a computer male-type voice. I changed to the michelle voice by changing this value to 1 in all of the modified scripts.

- When the voice talks, all stumbling activities and gps location updates are halted. This is not so bad in an urban environment where you drive slow (traffic jam, that sort of thing), but when there's a dense area of networks or you're driving on a highway, you miss out on signals quite often due to this.
Since the enablespeech boolean disables all sound, not only voice activity, I chose to customise the script. The customised version will tell you GPS status (lock, undetermined or timeout kind of stuff) and for the rest you hear the regular NS sounds for new network found, signal strength and signal loss.
In all versions I also changed strings like "is open" to "open" to speed it up a bit.

- I like to see what result drawing tracks has on the system performance on long wardrives, so I included a tracks enabled version for both the SSID reader as the one that doesn't read SSIDs.

In the header of the file I added the areas or options I used to change things in a comment, for easy reference.

I also included your original modified version of the file, again, for reference..
