Multi NIC Connecting?
Perhaps it has already has been done, so I am wondering:
Given that a computer has 2 network cards, lets say like a USB wireless NIC and a PCMCIA wireless NIC, and one was scanning (PCMCIA) then the other one would be free to access networks. So potentially if I made a text file of networks I wanted it to access or something, then when netstumbler encountered the network, I would want the 2nd one to atually connect to the network automagically. Where should I start with this? |

I was having the same kinds of questions until I got everything working simultaneously off of one card.
My setup is this; Old Toshiba 3440CT (PIII-500 with 192mb of mem - I like it cuz its small & light in the car with me) Linksys WPC54G wireless card Garmin ETrex GPS Netstumbler (of course) Linksys drivers loaded and tray utility running. What I have to do is boot the PC, eject and re-insert the wireless card and (poof!) I can run netstumbler and if I get a signal I can fire up the Linksys tray util and connect to an AP. Then when I drive out of range it continues to stumble uninterrupted. |

connecting to networks!
Yes, I only associate with public networks, my own private networks (home and work) or networks of people who know I'm checking their setup.
I was under the impression that this topic was getting it all work with one NIC rather than having to purchase two to use netstumbler and actually associate and work online at the same time. |

No the topic looks to be "Multi NIC Connecting?". Which would lead me to think it was about using multiple NICs. |
