NetStumbler to Streets & Trips - Page 3

I couldn't get this script to work under Linux, but this tool did the trick:

Works on Mac, Linux, Windows, u name it. Nice GUI interface for Windows too. Easily convert from a netstumbler (Summary file only) to streets and trips format (which is only tab delimited) and allows for easy importing to streets and trips.

How do you use "ns2st[1].pl" to export data from NetStumbler which is usable with MS S&T? Thanks.

thanks for the script
working on this one to remove old files first.(i use 1 ns file for 2 months then rebuild.)

here is how to run it in windows ( wish my lappy had linux but company wont have it.)
1. install something to run perl in windows-- i used "ActivePerl"
2. export a summery from ns to a file called "FULLSUM.txt" (case sensitive)
3. rename the ns2st.pl.txt to ns2st.pl
4. place the "ns2st.pl" in the same directory as the FULLSUM.txt ns summery file you made
5. double click the "ns2st.pl" script and it will make 4 files import them into streets.

or read the notes at the top of the file for command line usage-

i only inport nowep_ah.txt 9 (no wep add hoc) and nowep_ap.txt (no wep acc points).

this file will just keep adding into exsisting files it made- i modded it to delete the exsisting file and out put only the non wep sites files-

i do this all day to find places to surf check email... during the day at work- i dont want anything i cant drive up to and connect to easly- waste of time for me during the day to search for a place to surf-
i work all over columbus ohio- and my current ns file has about 3400 locations total, about 1500 with no wep

thier is no crime fed,state or local for my computer hooking up to a non secured network for internet access. i just map where they are- i have never brokeing anyones security- why bother when half the people leave them open as public access, whether they do this on purpose or not is thier problem.

as for burning in hell i would love to discuss religion with you or any other cult member -lmao

You're incorrect. All states and the Federal goverment have laws about gainiing access to networks that are not your's and to which you do not have permission to join. The "security" staus of the network is not the question, but rather your permission or lack thereof to join said network.

By admitting to doing this is a public forum you are admitting to a crime. This is against the policy of these Forums as stated here:
