I am going on vacation in a few days and have been trying to setup a system where I can war drive and send my GPS location back to a computer at my house where others can see my location. I have gotten it working (using a Serial Splitter), but it's not stable enough for me over the connection I am using. What I Would like to do is have some script that would take my current location and speed (say every 30 / 60 seconds) and send them to a web page or some database... Then all people have to do is click on a link or hit refresh to see my current location (maybe show it on google maps. Does anyone know of anything or anyway to do this? Any suggestions? I am not a programmer at all or I would try to modify the "Master" script (I use it) to do this, but I just don't know how. Even if I could have it send the location back to Map Point running on a comptuer at my house, I can get that displayed to people.
(I am using a Verizion Air For Wireless Inet Connection) Thanks for any help / suggestions. |

Technically speaking, you could grab the GPS data, and upload a custom bookmarklet XML file to your localized Google Maps server to update a vehicle location, but how are you going to send that data? Through one of the AP's you find along the way? ![]() |

Or change to Linux, run gpsdrive, and use the friendsd server facility built into gpsdrive.
