can see AP only when I give the SSID
I have installed the compaq wireless card WL110 and the netstumbler v0.3 and it works. But I can only see the Access Point when I give the SSID to the netstumbler. how can I configure the netstumbler that I can see the Access Point without giving the SSID?

Closed AP?
That is usually a symptom ("security feature") of a "closed" access point. They don't respond to the broadcast probes that Net Stumbler sends out.
If you configure the client with the AP name AND switch off Auto Configuration in Net Stumbler, then a probe is sent with the AP name, and the AP responds accordingly. |
