channelbits
ok, i know that this is a very well discussed topic and i have looked all over this site and google to figure out what the channelbits field data translates to. i am not sure if it and cannot figure it out. i looked on
http://forums.netstumbler.com/showth...ht=channelbits and i also read this thread http://forums.netstumbler.com/showth...ht=channelbits and it links to thread # 2050 but that thread does not exist anymore, and Medic says that it contanted exactly what he was looking for which is what i am looking for was that thread moved? or was it deleted because of teh "spoonfeeding" done on that page? i mean i realize that it took alot of effort to get the info and it was not easy but how are people to learn if they are told by the people that they look up to, to do it all on there own, to suddenly gain all of the knowledge as there superiors and solve it on there own. i do believe in doing things on your own but not everyone has the knowledge and skill to do this so a little guidance is required. please help, any help would be great. even if its just a link found on the web that i have overlooked.

You're close
Here are the Channel Bits:
Code:
Channel Hex Binary ------- ---- ---------------- 1 0002 0000000000000010 2 0004 0000000000000100 3 0008 0000000000001000 4 0010 0000000000010000 5 0020 0000000000100000 6 0040 0000000001000000 7 0080 0000000010000000 8 0100 0000000100000000 9 0200 0000001000000000 10 0400 0000010000000000 11 0800 0000100000000000 12 1000 0001000000000000 13 2000 0010000000000000 14 4000 0100000000000000 1-11 US (FCC) & Canada 1-13 Europe (ETSI) 1-14 Japan You may not have seen anything above 11 if you're in the US or Canada. Some people get equipment which is designated for other countries or hack the firmware to add additional channels. So you may occationally see channels 12-14 in the US or Canada. (BTW, running such equipment in a country is where the equipment isn't compliant is illegal.) DHCP is a TCP/IP and networking function, it has nothing to do with NS.

The proper way was to open a new thread and reference the thread you found while asking your question in an intelligent manner. We would have known that you have searched and understood everything you have read so far and still haven't come to a conclusion. When you revive a five year old thread, the first thing that pops into everyone's mind is "What a dumb-ass." and you still don't get the results you wished for. Since the damage is done, just sit back and relax. Someone will be along to answer your question shortly.

Um, people who have revived threads that are less old have been `Qu'ed for it.
