Your best bet would be to just hire a pro.

I know in my city they were going to get a city wide WIFI, but it fell through. Personally I think its silly to have wifi sent TO your house for your home internet. Parks, playgrounds, bar's,libraries, strip joints, public places etc... sure, put up hot spots, but why have a wireless signal sent to your house? I would rather it be piped in via cable or DSL..(ok, FIBER is preffered but cannot afford that atm)
That's just it: I am a pro, and rural doesn't have any sort of cable, and phone only supports at best 33.3 kbps, and no DSL. So wireless is the best way (only way for online gaming). Fibre is usually about $30/m

They use mesh networks for the networks (each AP connects to several other APs wirelessly).

I agree, but they say they triangulate the data.

A "PRO" using Netstumbler as the primary tool for producing high grade maps?

We all use NS on a regular basis, but not in the situations you are describing.

For some reason the meter is starting to go off the scale.

no, I wouldn't use it to actually use it to make the map, just get the coordinates. I have a solution called Radio Mobile that works great for radio plots to generate the maps

no, $30 per metre - that's just for the physical cable, not including a point of presence, or internet feed

Huh. I pay $30 for fiber per month. It's only 3mb/300k for internet though. The cable signal is piped in on it as well and split out at the house. The total bill is about $80 for IP + cable including the taxes. I can get POTS sent over the PON box, (ATM based,) but I've stuck with copper POTS for backup to the cell phones. I did get them to lift the bandwidth limitation once for testing and at the time, it went to over 15mb/sec symetrical. (And that was before we upgraded our POP access to multiple 100mbit connections..)

HAHAHHA

Now that's a funny ass question coming from a "Pro". A pro would know what he meant by a XXmb/sec connection speed.
