All,
I am under the assumption that Netstumbler transmits probe request frames at a periodic rate looking for any and all APs (not specific, individual APs) and records all probe response frames it receives from APs that are configured to broadcast their SSID (i.e. "open" APs). In my wi-scan output I find many entries with valid GPS, SSID, MAC data but with a zero triplet of [ SNR Sig Noise ] = [ 0 0 0 ]. Can anyone help me explain the zero triplet? Did Netstumbler receive a valid probe response frame but get bad/no SNR Sig Noise values from the NIC/driver (I'm using Orinoco silver)? Did Netstumbler send a specific probe request to the specific AP and fail to get a response? Thanks! Dave |
