I am impressed + suggestion
I just went for my first drive with a borrowed power invertor(nice), a Lucent gold card(no antenna) and a nice drive from my place to Dunkin Donuts, and a different route back.
Here's a strange incident. I found a AP point named "mike" in the twin cities' busiest highways(494), for a good 40 seconds(it went into the red) when I was buzzing down at 60mph. Strange, since I found only a few other APs that lasted me a second or two. Someone driving aronud near me with an AP? One suggestion for the authors: It would be nice to have an option to play a .WAV file when a new AP is found. Good for if you don't have GPS(such as me) and need to be informed you found something while keeping your eyes on the road. Driving around solo and looking intermittently at my laptop screen is quite dangerous. Hope to see support for my D-Link card soon. Good work guys. This brings me back to the days of scanning with Tone Loc. |

Perhaps the "mike" AP is located in a tall building with a good external antenna...perhaps putting out more RF energy than the average AP, too. Netstumbler already incorporates playing a wav file when it encounters a new AP. http://www.netstumbler.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=21 http://www.netstumbler.org/vb/showthread.php?threadid=92 |
