Cool Interesting AP names

I was out running an errand today (w/the laptop on, of course ) and came across this AP:

It was particularly amusing as I'm using a script which uses TTS to announce the SSIDs as they're discovered...

i think the real fool is the idiot who thinks logging into an unconfigured linksys AP w/ the default password and taking it over constitutes "hacking." real hacking takes more skill that that.

I can't change the voice to TTS, it always speaks "bla, bla, bla"

How do you get the nice TTS-Voice speaking?

Talking Here's a funny one...

I have a script running that will announce the name of the access point and then say "is open" or "is closed" depending on whether or not it is encrypted.

I came across a funny one the other day driving around.... it said:

"Sphincter is closed"

I'm sorry all I heard is bla bla bla I'm a dirty tramp...

Sorry Mr.Deeds is a great movie I couldn't help but quote

Yes it is funny to find things like that but Changing SSIDs by entering Default passwords is childs play. A total noob could do that if he had recently bought a Linksys wireless kit from walmart and was toting his laptop around and accidently connected. I'm sure he felt like a genius though...

Here is a copy of the current NS script that not only maps AP's in realtime
but also says the name of the AP and/or not the "Is open/closed" part plus
much much more... And if you install some more Voice SW, it will talk in
differnet Dialects/languages...

LOL awesome.

Not really funny AP names, but I have found a few names that look suspiciously like passwords. I wonder if the owner thinks that this is some kind of security layer to set your AP name.

It's amazing too how many people set their AP name to their address eg: "123MainSt".

some interesting SSID's from recent stumbling in LA/San Gabriel Valley:

weird SSIDS:
dorkface69
woolloomooloo
retard
sinoyank

some fellow wardrivers?
wardrive-=T0ast=-
All traffic logged
imwatchingyou

there was an unWEPped AP called "donotuse" haha.

lots of advertising, including:
Vote Bush 2004
IBROWSE_$3/HOUR
The$Firm$

sexy SSID's:
LoveLand
BOOTY2
hotasianchics

some loser logged into an unprotected Belkin AP and changed it to
you been hacked fuckhead

"linksys" still has by far the highest market share, followed by "default," used by D-Link and others, and "NETGEAR." 2WIREXXX is gaining some momentum as well due to SBC selling it w/ their DSL. "RCA" has been showing up of late too.
---
outside of wardriving:
scary thing is my XP WZC automatically connected to an accounting firm next door when i wasn't paying attention. i only noticed when suddenly a bunch of weird Windows hosts appeared in "My Network Neighborhood" ... i thought my LAN had been hacked. several of the machines had shared drives drives that were not passworded. not the kind of place i would like to bring my financial info to. i finally had to set a fake WEP key on their SSID to keep XP from connecting automatically.

Hi all, first post here!

I downloaded the above script and tried to run it using NS v4 and MapPoint 2004. I'm getting an critical error "Unable To Open Default Map" when I open NetStumbler.

I have used other scripts successfully with this setup. Looking through the script (no script writing experience) I see references to what appears to be programs installed on a "D:\" drive:

"d:\program files\network Stumbler\TrackNS\"

Would this be my problem as both MapPoint and NS on my machine are installed on:

C:\Program Files\. . .

Thanks in advance!

The funniest SSID I have seen so far was: "BigAlsHouseOfPleasure"

Cheers, Scnr

"belkin54g" seems to be the most popular over here; it's the SSID for 1 in every 8 access points found "Netgear" and "linksys" are almost the same, but, with "Netgear" just taking pole position. "Netgear" and "linksys" combined, almost equal the numbers of "belkin54g". I guess Belkin's doing good buisness round here.

There are no humerous SSIDs. And I find almost anything funny.
