You're kidding aren't you? You look in the parking lot. You then copy down license number of the car with the laughing jerks sitting in it, and contact the PD.

Besides, who would seriously consider doing this besides some 13 year old script-kiddie-h4x0r wannbe? It's sophomoric at best and hardly worth commiting a felony over. For cripes sake, if you're going to commt a felony, rob a bank. At least you'll have a chance of spending a few bucks before your cellmate Bubba starts whispering sweet nothings in your ear.

I think it is the Best Buy that uses "orange" The one near me in Boca fl. uses 3 ap's 2 are "Best Buy" and one "orange" . Now your startin to learn why I like to slow dow a bit a take a look around.
Orange appears to be Home Depot here, which would make sense. I've seen it twice while out and about the last couple days, both times near (widely-separated) Home Depots. There was a Best Buy near one of them, but not the second.

Best Buy's SSID is BestBuy and they typically have 3 ap's in the store, at least they do in the 3 stores in my area. The only problem is it's there for public access, but you have to know the proxy to get online, and it's on it's own VLAN so your on the network with the instore technicians and all the customers computers, with all their viri and whatnot, but not with the registers or back office systems.

Just as it should be. Nothing wrong with that.

How about "bubba'sfreeinternet"

Does this imply permission from the owner to connect to the AP?

I also saw "iwardrivetoo" or the like.

Ask the owner/administrator.

NO! Permission should always be explict vs implicit (for legal purposes). Either talk to the AP owner, or if this is some business or establishment, talk to the owners, or even look for a sign explaining the details of their service.

Truckstop.neT is exactly that. Truckstops along big highways, as is the FlyingJ.

My Wireless Network A & B are default SSID's of a brand, I don't remember which.

Virus Do not use is probably someones attempt at keeping their neighbor off their network. I've found a couple that say something similar.

Because if you do, and there's a malicious hacker around, then they would know exactly where to sit and track and hack your system. Plus if it's someone that's a identity thief, you've already given them some information they could use.

An SSID should not give any indication of who you are.
