ISP limits speed of my Lucent card--need hack.
I get internet through land-based wireless LAN using a Lucent Bronze card. ISP limited my speed to just 64k using the licence code. Is there a way to bypass this speed limit? I used to get over 300k with the same equipment. This looks like the right place to find knowledgable people. Thanks.

It depends on HOW they are limiting you.
They are probably using a box that does traffic shaping and you aren't going to do any better.
You could spoof your mac but if they know what they are doing, they have all unknown macs set to 0kps. Look up CBQ or class based queueing (sp??) Tron Of Borg |

I have a local ISP, and use an external antenna on my roof.
From more digging, I think they configured my AP for a fixed rate. Therefore, I don't think I can get around it. It seems to go fast in short bursts, but if I download a large file the speed slows down after about 10 seconds. Now, I'm trying to get a Lucent White card in my laptop to talk to my desktop to see if I can share internet access. Thanks for the input! |
