Mapping Netstumbler data w/o GPS

I am doing a site survey of a floor of a building, actually, already did the site survey. We took 30 individual measurements from one single location and saved them as .ns1 files. We did not use GPS to keep track of our location, though we do have a floor layout with each location we took a measurement from, marked on the map of the floor. Is there a program to map out our data even though we didn't use gps. I would rather not have to go back and do it again with gps. Ideally, I would like to find a piece of software that lets me import a .bmp or .jpg or .pdf of the floor plan and then mark each data point using the software, and import the .ns1 files and have the program map it out. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Every time I take a GPS unit into a building, it loses satellite connection. Just take a piece of paper and draw it. In fact, if you can find the building services people, see if they have a map of the building.

Here you go. Hive Wi-Fi Mapping Coverage Software

It will not import your NS files, but I would bet that you did not use a SUPPORTED card and your numbers are suspect anyway.

It sounds like you went about this project backwards. Build a solid base to work from first, then gather the data to fit the model.

This is a project for a class im taking about wireless concepts. Our professor did not specify or reccommend we use gps to easily map our data points, until after we did our data collection. I also didn't know our college would have provided us with gps equipment if we asked beforehand. Looks like were plotting everything by hand. It should be a good experience

I've noticed several universities that have engineering lab assignments with links to Knsgem, for doing the same thing.

Once it got mentioned in Penetration Tester's Open Source Toolkit (Volume 2), I'm sure traffic just took off.

As with any of their books, the PDFs make it out there on the tubes...
