Netstumbler and Windows XP problems

Hello
I am running Netstumbler with windows XP using an Orinoco gold card flashed to the latest version (7.0, I believe). Everytime I try and run netstumbler, a small window at the bottom says "Need to run the object." Not sure what this means but I can not get stumbler to run.

I tried to running stumbler with the card unplugged then plugging it in after NS is running. It works briefly and then locks up.

Any ideas, I have scanned the pages and seen there are a lot of problems with the orinoco cards.

Thanks
johnmac

Xp flawless on my system

On my Dell 8100 Laptop with Orinoco Gold under XP Pro, Netstumbler works flawlessly....I even get a good sniff with Ethereal using the XP beta WinPcap...

Have tried NetStumbler using XP (on a Sony Vaio) with the Orinoco Bronze (Turbo), Silver, and Gold and they all work great.

All are flashed to the latest firmware and I have some cards flashed to 4.52 (last firm to support Promiscuous mode) and they work as well...

NO idea...

I also had this problem (XP, Silver, non updated firmware) and my first thought after reading some posts here was to remove/delete the Orinoco Client Manager.

This did seem to help. I have been stumbling my office bldg. (with active AP's) for about 40 minutes and no more "Run Object" error.

1st Step: Go mobile and see if it still holds up.
2nd Step: Re-install Client Manager and verify this is the problem.

Perhaps a conflict or incorrect settings (by me?) within the Client Manager. Good Luck.

Nevermind

Problem still there. Not the Client Manager.

Sorry to mislead...

CHeck wireless services

Not sure if this will help, check to see if you have Wireless Zero Configuration service running. Did you do a fresh install of XP or is it an upgrade?

Wireless Zero Config

TiGuy,

Yeah this is a factory (Toshiba) install of XP and the service is running. I have stopped it & changed it to 'manual' startup. Will check it tonight.

Thanks for the tip.
