no IP address

The IP Address column in my NetStumbler is always empty (but other columns show data).

How is the IP Address detection enabled?

By reading the help file and determining what the column is used for.

You mean where it says, "This topic has not yet been written, and will be more complete in a future release." ?

I found this on my first try.

IP column in 0.4.0 empty?

Try searching a bit before asking a question that has already been asked.

I've seen this before but it doesn't answer my question, at least not directly.
But, it's evidently a big secret that must not be spoken of in direct terms.

No, jackass, if you had read his post, and followed the appropriate link you would have found this:

A3A. It sends out a probe request about once a second, and reports the responses. This is known as Active Scanning.
A3B. (ORiNOCO only and with "Query APs for names" enabled) When it is connected to a BSS network, it will attempt to get the name of the access point. When it is connected to an IBSS network, it will try to get the names of all locally visible peers. This is done via Proxim's proprietary WMP protocol.
A3C. (Only when connected to a Cisco access point and with "Query APs for names" enabled and with a valid IP address ) It will attempt to use Cisco's IAPP protocol to get the name and IP address of the access point.
A3D. If you leave TCP/IP enabled, your adapter may attempt to get a DHCP lease or send other traffic. NetStumbler will record the fact that you were issued an IP address.
If you can't understand that, it would appear to be a problem with comprehension on your part.

I can understand it perfectly. It just doesn't answer my question.

How is this NOT answering the question?

Here I changed the starting words to make it easier!

ANSWER:

BY connecting to a Cisco access point and with "Query APs for names" enabled and with a valid IP address. It will attempt to use Cisco's IAPP protocol to get the name and IP address of the access point.

See now that's funny. You can't figure out what the important part of the link I supplied you, but you can properly guess that I have a big penis.

The NanoGods gave me enough testosterone for hair or a big penis. The members here can tell you I have no hair.

Put down the donut, blubberbutt, and read the file. It doesn't answer my question.

Look you simpering little dickweed, if you had even the slightest comprehension of what the readme file says, then you would know your question has been answered. It isn't my fault you can't comprehend the words that are right in front of you.

Ok try this then.

WE DO NOT SPOONFEED HERE. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT, THEN JUST FUCKING CONTINUE DOWN YOUR MOTHER'S LEG TO END UP LIKE YOU SHOULD HAVE. A BROWN STAIN ON THE MATTRESS.

THE LINK I GAVE YOU POINTED YOU IN THE DIRECTION YOU NEED TO GO TO FIND THE ANSWER. IF YOU CANNOT FIND THE ANSWER YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, THEN YOU ASKED THE WRONG QUESTION. THE RIGHT ANSWER WILL ONLY BECOME CLEAR WHEN YOU HAVE ASKED THE RIGHT QUESTION.

IF YOU KEEP UP THE INSULTING OF EVERYONE THAT HAS TRIED TO HELP YOU. YOU WILL BE ON A VACATION FROM THE FORUM.

AND YES. I AM TYPING IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE I AM YELLING AT YOU. YOU STUPID FUCKING MORONIC WASTE OF BEING THAT SHOULD JUST LEARN HOW TO READ AND COMPREHEND. MY 4 YEAR OLD CAN DO BETTER THAN YOU.
