After running NS, starting and stopping it a couple of times, and trying to send the compatibility report, NS freezes. I can not get my wireless network connection back. If I do a ipconfig, it says the media is disconnected for my wireless card. I have a Dell Truemobile 1150. Even after removing and re-inserting the card, I still get the same thing. If I open the card in the network connections, there is nothing in the screen.
The power light is on on the card. I am going to test this with my Buffalo WLI-CBG-54A and the Internal IBM dual antenna right now.

Go into the services area and see if the "Wireless Zero Config" service is running.
If is not, start it.. The new NS (.40) automatically disables this service when you start scanning, but should turn it back on when you quit NS..

I see. I think that they are going to have to put a timeout feature in then when sending the compatibility report, or have it re-enable the zero config after you stop scanning. It hard locked my computer, couldn't even give windows the three finger salute.

NS freezes when I try to send compatibility report, regardless whether the Wireless Zero Configuration Service is started or stopped. To get rid of the frozen NetStumbler, I have to end the process in Task Manager. - Jeff |

Works on native Atheros, but not with NDIS 5.1
Card: Topcom Skyracer Pro 3054 (ODM Global Sun Technology Atheros based 11g PCCard, with TurboG. Equivalent to Netgear WGR511T cards)
Operating system: Windows XP Pro SP1, Windows Zero Config Disabled in servicemanager. Driver: Atheros AR5001X Cardbus Wireless network Adapter, version 2.4.22 ClientManager : Atheros Client Utility Version 2.4.2.20 When sending Compatiblity report and Netstumbler uses native Atheros, no problems. When sending Compatibility report and Netstumbler uses Atheros in NDIS 5.1 mode, NS hangs in same way as others have described here... Just my 0.02€'s worth... Dutch |

Asks me to save the file, but then won't will exit. Just returns to the screen if I hit "No" to save.It gives me errors and trys to save files without a filename (.ns1). This also happens when it's automatically saving them, when I hit close. Eurocom 5100-S laptop, WinXP Pro, Linksys Wireless-G PC Card (also tested with Simple Mobility Wireless LAN IEEE 802.11b Long Range PC Card). |
