SMAC - Software MAC Address Changer for Win 2,/XP
SMAC is a free GUI tool, which allows users to change MAC address for almost all Network Interface Cards (NIC) on the Windows 2000 and XP systems, whether the manufactures allow this option or not.
http://www.klcconsulting.net/smac/ It's due out next week. I can't wait!

SMAC 1.0 is out!
And it works like a champ! Change your MAC address to any "valid" MAC address (all 0's won't work). I just downloaded it this morning and tested it under Windows XP Professional and it worked great!
Go hit it at http://www.klcconsulting.net/smac/ Please note, this is for testing purposes (i.e., LEGAL) only.

Well, I tested it under XP, with a version of Orinoco gold driver that doesn't allow MAC address changes. It works fine. As far as I can tell, my MAC address has been completely changed.
Further testing is warranted, but woot!! Thanks. |

SMAC is easy to use
you can download SMAC at http://www.klcconsulting.net/smac
Here are the steps for changing MAC addresses on Win 2000 & XP: 1. Install and run SMAC 2. select the network adapters that you want to change the MAC addresses 3. type in the new MAC addresses 4. disable and re-enable your network adapter(s) or reboot your system. That's all. You will see a brand new MAC for your network adapters! |

Registry Stability
If the software is working correctly (remember, this is the first release) then is should be fine. Just remember, as with all system changes MAKE A BACKUP!
1. Ensure your critical system files are backed up. 2. Back up your System Registry. etc...
