Still in developement?

Is Netstumbler still in development or what? it's almost officially 3 years now since 0.4. I feel as though there is a lot that could be improved upon and fixed in this time period.

I mean it works fine and there is nothing wrong with it (with my card), but I am really anxious for an update sometime soon

Have you considered donating to the author so that he knows you're interested in an update?

It would be nice if each time you launched netstumbler it would remember how the columns were customized.

Also it calls all encryption 'WEP', would be nice to actually see what type (WEP, WPA, etc.)

What amount of $$$ is needed for donation to have changes like these added?

You'd have to ask Marius.

If you knew how to use the software you would know that can already be done.

For starters, all the mods need 24 cases of beer.
g8t needs a few female stripper midget's,
A picture of you holding a sign saying "all your base belong to us",
Thorn needs a new nurse,
Dutch needs a trip to the US that doesn't involve the hospital
audit needs moonshine, and case of skoal long cut chew.

Once we get this then your off to a good start.

Netstumbler can already differentiate between WEP, WPA, WPA2, PSK, RADIUS, etc. types of encryption / authentication / security?!!

Pray tell wrzwaldo, how can I fully harness the sweet nectar of Netstumbler and have it show me which specific types are in use for each AP I find?

On a less sarcastic note, I know your smart a$$, un-helpful reply (before you edited it) was actually targeted at my other suggestion about the customized columns being remembered. I know you can customize them and then go to "View" -> "Save Defaults", but I guess I should have clarified a bit more.

You see I am by nature lazy (why swivel your chair around to the other computer keyboard and monitor when you can just SSH into it from where you're at). I was just wishing that when I installed netstumbler on <some-machine> that when I closed and then re-opened it that the customized columns would just "magically" be remembered.

Same goes for when I look at the signal plot of a particular signal and then return to the "it took me five minutes to customize these freakin' columns and I forgot to View->SaveDefaults, D'oh!!!" section.

There's an open beta available in the form of a LiveCD, if you are interested.
You can read the specs and functionality in this page from the Authors website:

No asshole it can do what I highlighted in your post. The reason I edited was I had to install NS on this puter to do the screen cap for your stupid ass... The verbiage in my initial post has/had not changed.

Why would you need to know that? Locked (WEP,WPA) is locked. What are you using NS for?
