I have a Buffalo Airstation (Melco) WLI-PCM-L11 and cannot get Netstumbler to work. Any Ideas? I also have a Trendnet PCMCIA (with Prism chipset I know won't work) and Trendnet USB (non Prism but not sure of chipset) I keep getting no wireless card found.. VERY dissapointed.. Am I missing something? I am in Process of offering an AP in Tampa (On Sheldon Rd. Between Waters and Linebaugh)
If anyone has info on making a GOOD homemade Antenna/Amp for Outdoor use, Lemme Know!!..

Hey AsHMan! How's the coax hanging?!

For anyone else in Tampa, or the area, I'm the other guy who is going to put up the AP in Northdale.

These are the AP's I've found so far. Sorry no long/lats but no GPS as of yet.

1. CWWEST -(Cisco Aironet: CH 8) coming off of the cell tower above the Fire Dept on North Dale Mabry HWY (on east side of rd) just north of the Fletcher intersection.

2. "Apple Network 079461" -(Agere Lucent Orinoco: CH 1) at or just north of Bill Curry Ford (east side of rd) on N. Dale Mabry Hwy just north of the Hillsborough over-pass.

3. HCTCHP -(Cisco Aironet CH:? {I think..bad memory}) I think this is from the Dept of Motor Vehicles located in the plaza a few blocks west of N. Dale Mabry Hwy on W. Hillsborough Ave, south side of the road. In the southwest corner of the plaza is the DMV with a parabolic facing East.

4. Linksys -(Linksys: CH 6) On Cassy Rd north of Ehrlich Rd but south of Northdale Blvd. Very weak signal coming from one of the houses.

5. WLAN -(Addtron: CH 11) Just east of Cassy Rd about (little south inside the subdivision) where #4 above is.

None of the above are using WEP.

This was found on the way home after getting my Orinoco Gold and with no antenna.

That's all you've found?

Counting WISP bridges, I have over 200 logged, but not all with NS, since it cannot grab CNAC'd APs.

There are lots of AP's in the Westshore area, in the industrial parks by the airport, etc...

BTW:

It is the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's office in
Horizon Plaza shopping center (hence HCTC-HP).

It is a point-to-point bridged network linking all the offices with the main office downtown. It was set up by DTnet, according to their web page.

ZeroBreak!,

I just received my 12dbd yaggie! 8P It sure can cut the noise down! With our omni's, AsHMaN and I were able to keep a peer connection for about 8 or 9 blocks (line of sight).
