Anyone have in new info on this product? Is it software only? Do you have to use a specific wireless card from them?
Looks like a pretty nice system, gives nice to the point info. But $2500 is a bit too much! Any one who has worked with this, used, tested, played and so on... love to hear more about it. thanks |

I beta tested it a while back when it first came out. It has improved a bit since then.
Download the demo and check it out. You'll quickly see everything it does. Let's see, initial impressions: VERY useful. If you are a 802.11b security company (or a well-to-do wardriver), this is a very good program. When it comes down to it though, it's a really advanced MiniStumbler with pretty graphs and a lot more add-on options. It's overkill for the average 802.11 user (but that's why they are targeting security companies with it). As far as the price, I personally don't think *ANY* software is worth that much. For 2500 bucks you get a proprietary PRISM-based 802.11b card and the software. You do NOT get softwre updates unless you purchased the additional year support. That's a crock in my opinion. If I pay 2500 for software, I expect any/all updates. Otherwise, price it at 29.99 like every other company out there. Things I didn't like about it: If you live in the US, it only supports 11 channels. That's just plain stupid. If you're truly a security company, you need to scan for all 14 because there could be a rogue AP operating at any channel, not just the 11 allotted channels for the US. If you live outside the US, I believe you get the 14 channel version. NO GPS SUPPORT! What the... When you capture packets, the buffer and file size is WAY too small to do anything useful with it. It lacks the ability to do summary reports (like all the APs, stations, location of them, time found, WEP enabled, etc). When I showed it to our 802.11b staff, they didn't think it was worth the price. I couldn't get approval to purchase it. Had it been 1/2 that price, I could have purchased it. In fact, if they lowered their price by 1/2, they would sell 5 times as many copies. Greed will kill this software and company off... you watch. -Mc |
