Red face AiroPeek and WildPackets drivers

After seeing all the flames about similar questions here I'm embarassed to ask... but I've read the FAQs, tried multiple drivers etc and still no success so here goes.

I've got the DWL-650+ and an trying to make it work with AiroPeek. (The DWL-650+ card isn't mentioned in the list of WildPackets drivers, so maybe it's not going to work). I've tried the Realtec 8180 driver but no joy.

The DWL-650+ adapters uses the Texas Instruments ACX-100
chipset.

Do you know whether there is a driver that will work with the DWL-650+ ?

Am I wasting my time trying, or is there a way to do it?

If you are trying the Realtek drivers on a TI ACX-100 chipset, no wonder you won't get it to work. Same as trying a Ford car key to open a Mercedes. Try to use the braincells next time...

You know the chipset of the card, so look on the Wildpacket website and see if they have drivers for that chipset. If they don't, you are SOL.

You are wasting your time asking here in this forum, in case you did not notice, this is not the Airopeek Support forum.

http://www.wildpackets.com/support/k...se/airopeek#33

Code:
I can't find a special driver for my wireless card. What should I do?

For a complete list of the supported adapters, please refer to the
AiroPeek supported hardware page:
http://www.wildpackets.com/support/hardware/airopeek

If your card is not listed, we do not provide support for that wireless adapter
at this time. If you would like us to add it to our feature request database,
please complete the form at:
http://www.wildpackets.com/support/contact

Thanks for your comments guys.

Yes, I know that this is not the AiroPeek support forum , but I wasn't really asking about AiroPeek, more of a driver question really.

AIUI if I can't get a WildPackets driver to work, I don't stand a chance with NetStumbler.

Dutch, I'd tried the Realtec driver because the Airopeek drivers listing indicated that it worked with the DWL-650. When it didn't work I looked closer and found that the card was the DWL-650+ and then researched the chipset. Maybe you are right - brain wasn't in gear at first.

I've also contacted WildPackets Tech Support - no response yet so I thought that someone here might have had a similar experience and solved the problem.

Thanks anyway.

Netstumbler doesn't require the aeropeek drivers. Read the Netstumbler Readme file, for requirements and supported cards.
If you are running Win XP and the regular drivers are NDIS 5.1 compliant, you can normally use the card with Netstumbler, but with limitations such as noisereporting won't work.

Just to re-touch this...

The DWL-650 V2 is ADMtek.
The DWL-G650A1 is Prism
The DWL-G650B1 is Atheros

What is the FCC ID of your card?

KA2DWL-650PLUSB1 ?

You aren't supposed to use that card in a laptop.

It is probably a health hazard, but I guess the world might be a better place if you microwaved your sack.
