Question Alternate Device Managers or Registry Hack for the Sensitivity?

Sitting on a street corner, enjoying my surfing experiance from a public WAP, when my connection keeps drifting in and out... (SNR ~12db, 0 lost packets, but a red bar and no network conneciton in the toshiba branded orinoco client manager).

What gives?

Are there any third-party client managers that would allow me to adjust the connection sensitivity? Or, failing that, under what registry key or ini file can the conneciton sensitivity be tweaked?

Thanks,
Jace

If your access point has any options as far as Interference Robustness, you might try setting those. I checked that box on all the APs at work and now everyone's signal is a bit stronger where some people were previously fading in and out.

if you use the linksys wrt54g access point you can do the ping hack or install the hacked firmware to boost signal strength

I guess he can't do anything to the AP he doesn't own (read the post at the top of the page). He is looking for a CLIENT solution.

I agree with Mr.White.

This could well be the greatest post in the history of the NetStumbler Forums. All Hail Mr. White.

I think a competition to that effect should be run, the above post would definatly have to be included.
