Broadcast GPS location

Hi, is there a program for windows that allows me to broadcast the locaion of my GPS through my laptop wirelessly. So like another wireless pc can pick up where the laptop is?
I think there is something for linux - what about windws?

Thanks

You're probably thinking of Linux's GPSD. It's not so much that it broadcasts the location wirelessly, as it makes the GPS data avalaible on a TCP/IP port so that it can be accessed via any TCP stack.

So far no one makes anything similar for Windows, as far as I know.

You're welcome.

By the way, sparafina and Dutch are the GPS experts around here. If you're lucky, maybe they know of something.

You'd need something to talk to the TCP port that has the gpsd data. Take a look at the kismet HOWTO. It explains how to due it with kismet, and doing with other applications should be similar.

Also the GPSD homepage is located here: http://gpsd.berlios.de There's lots of good info there.

You could run TGPSD under cygwin, giving a GPSD feel to your windows environment:

I've seen something that shares out your GPS port over IP. I'll dig it up later...

Got it... will this work for you? VisualGPSXP

I'm not an expert, I just like to know where I am located when I wake up in the morning

You might want to check out APRS apps, too. APRS is used by ham radio operators to broadcast their current location. I can't remember the name of it, but last year, I was running a free APRS app on my PocketPC that transmitted by GPS coordinates to a server, where you could view its breadcrumb trail on a map.
