On the Cisco signal strength
As I've mentioned before on other threads, the Cisco card seems to report signal strength to NetStumbler in %, rather than dBm, which is the units the latter works in.
Thus, a signal of 9% will be interpreted by NetStumbler as -9dBm, obviously an extremely tasty signal, worth putting in the Signal+ field. So, do not trust the Cisco card with NetStumbler, even though the NDIS mode works, it's not reliable - another reason is the "stuck" APs, you will miss a lot of APs while NetStumbler is stuck on a previously scanned one. Apart from this, I found the Cisco card much better in terms of capture capability than my Enterasys, it logged APs from much further away. Cheers, Mother |
