Enterasys and Newer Routers
Hey everyone. I spend a full day trying to figure this out. I just got my Enterasys RoamAbout... or Cabletron today. The problem is that windows and NS detects the card without any problems. But I cant connect to anywhere. So after my 5th hour of figure out, I plugged in my older netgear wireless g router and the card detected it and worked. So I figure it must be a old driver or software. I updated my client to 3.03 (I think) and firmware but dont know if its the right one. Anyone have this trouble?

The 2000, R2, and R3000 are only industrial grade access points. No routing or DHCP. Do you have another source for these functions, such as a gateway router or firewall? mikep928

I'm thinking he's referring to an Enterasys adapter, not router (although some clarification on his behalf would be helpful as he does contradict himself).
If that is the case then I also ran into a similar issue with the Enterasys I recieved last week in that Windows detects it, however neither ns, nor WZC can see any networks with it (although my 8420 can see networks when its plugged in at the same time) and if I can find a solution I will post it. I've seen a few people saying it is an issue with the newer firmwares and drivers, at least under linux. |

enterasys problems
I'm using windows xpsp2 and i get the same problem with my enterasys pcmcia card in a compaq r3000 laptop, i found that once i do connect to the network it seems to "clear up". Like if i can get my card to see the network long enough to connect, then the signal almost instantly bounces up to 5 bars upto about 400 feet away, but i have to initialy connect fairly close, about 30 feet.
