Ooops yeah, I figured out a quick fix. Use explorer, navigate to the folder containing "stumbvertor". Next, make a note of the folder name & name of each file ending w/ ".ocx". Then run regsvr32 "folder\filename.ocx" for each OCX file, and this will register their COM interfaces appropriately. Fixed everything for me. Guess the installation didn't register them. Still doubtful as to whether or not this will work with Streets & Trips, MapPoint is the only 're-usable', 'extendable' product... |

different map app
I recently found a new map application that I think is terrific. It pulls down satellite imagery from TerraServer, or can optionally pull down topographic maps as well. It can import waypoints and routes from various GPSs. I wondered if anyone has tried it; has successfully imported data from NS; and/or has written any scripts or apps to allow NS data to be used with it. The application is USAPhotoMaps from www.jdmcox.com. I look forward to hearing from everyone...

Pretty much just the continental US. (why? I'm sure birds pass overhead all the time... hell, I know from going to a NASA pathing site, that we are well covered by 1-meter resolution sats) So, while I've looked at this, it's currently useless for me. |

The images at TerraServer are all about 9 years old. This sux for me as my home was built 7 years ago. I can't even show the kids our house... only the dirt road where the houses were later build.
I may play with the scripting shortly, but frankly I'm just so busy... I'm sure you all know how that goes. Right now my current project is a perl script that pulls nessus results into a mysql database. Fun Fun!

You think it's bad not having a recent terraserver map? MapPoint has not significantly updated it's Canadian files since 1996... so, somewhere below is my network, in the "wilderness", not even a dirt road... |

NICE I remember an encounter like this with the Hertz Neverlost (more like EverLost) system. A new business development wasn't on the maps yet so it couldn't be pulled up. Fortunately I had an email that mentioned a cross-road.
