loading ndis drivers

I'm betting this has been covered somewhere but so help me, I can't find it...

I did a fresh install of xp and netstumbler, it all worked wonderfully, then I went and got the drivers and client utilities from the manufactuers page, loaded those and now netstumbler starts, finds a couple of aps(some have wep) and then crashes. So I figured I needed to restore the ndis drivers and be happy again. for the life of me, I cant make this happen. I uninstalled the manufactuer utility and the device in the device manager, rebooted and it still wants to load the new driver. I cant find ndis in the driver list, I dont know what it's called in \windows\inf so I cant manually select it. If I try to roll it back, windows tells me there was no driver information backed up(thanks a lot). And before people start booting thier post count by pasting(for the millionth time) the link to supported cards, it's a cabletron/entrasys roamabout, it IS a supported card(I wonder how many people will stop reading this halfway through and post the link to the supported list anyway).

I dont want to have to reinstall xp just to restore this driver!

thanks for any help

I have V5.00 of the drivers for the Enterasys/Cabletron Roamabout which works fine with NS. I could send you a copy.
Good luck

Which is why you should post your vital data at the beginning of your post. Unless you were trying to get that response.

thanks beermuppet, I'm downloading those now, I appriciate the help.

However, the question still stands, does anybody know how to load the ndis drivers? It can't ACTUALLY require a reinstall can it!?

Why do you want NDIS drivers? Using these drivers will make your card unsupported. Why not use the orinoco drivers?

becuase everything worked with the ndis drivers. the cabletron drivers were loaded and netstumbler stopped working.

So I tried to install the drivers from beermuppet:

cant remove the current device "failed to remove device, it may be needed to boot the computer:

cant load the new drivers, "there was an error: the name is already in use as either a service name or a display service name"

I dont know if this is an issue with cabletron/entrasys/whomever (I know the card is old and beyond thier support responsibility) or xp, either way, it's quickly becoming a nightmare!

ok, a little more and this is what's happening

whenever I try to load the drivers from beermuppet (I dont know what the driver version is), windows wants to copy some files from the folder the client utility(from version 7.somthing)(WCRBT48.EXE and WCRBT48.dll). When I first tried to install the drivers from beermuppet, the installer couldn't find these files so it died there. So I went ahead and reinstalled that(client manager variant 1 version 3.30). That worked fine except netstumbler crashes as soon as it finds and ap. so then I tried to update the driver with the one that beermuppet gave me, again, I dont know the version of this driver so for all I know I could be installing an older one... futility, this gave me the "the name is already in use as either a service name or a display service name" error. Now to load ANY driver, I have to uninstall, reboot, reinstall MY client/driver and reboot again. the card will work again but netstumbler crashes.
