Works great for me.. Netstumbler 0.4.0 files, haven't tried with 0.3.0 files. Playing around with it now, and just plain loving it..

Going to do a stumble tomorrow in a densely populated (AP-wise) area of Copenhagen, a square residental area of appr. 800 x 800 meters, and do some maps with various layouts. Will revert back with samples and feedback.

And Adam, please drop me your postal adress in e-mail, going to send you something nice from Copenhagen, as a small cadeau for a job well done.(paypal is a pain in the butt, when you live in Europe...)

Just my 0.02€'s worth...

Adam,

One item which would be great to have, is the possibility to distinguish secured vs non-secured AP's.

I.E. having the names and description for the waypoint data in red for non-secured AP's, and green for secured AP's (those using WEP).

Maybe as an option in the waypoint field area ?

More suggestions tomorrow, after I have tested with the densely populated area.

Just my 0.02€'s worth...

Only one of the .ns1 files you sent had any GPS data in it, and that one is 5.7 MB; the server prevents you from uploading more than 2 MB.

It's a thought, but at the moment it would require rewriting big chunks of GPS Visualizer, since I don't ever mess with waypoint colors. For the time being, though, maybe I can add a note to the waypoint name, if I can figure out where in the binary file WEP is stored.

Update: okay, I think I got it... waypoint names now have the SNR and either "WEP" or "open."

text files

Okay, now GPS Visualizer supports NetStumbler-exported text files (file suffix should be .txt). Give it a try.

I suppose now I should announce this to a wider audience than just this thread. You guys know these forums better than I do; where would be the best venue for that? I'm thinking the section called simply "NetStumbler"?

If you would like to make a post along the lines of "GPS Visualizer now supports NS1 files..." Then the NetStumbler thread would be the ideal one. We can even make it a sticky.

Since it will mainly be of use to European WarDrivers, you might want to put something about that, and I'd suggest posting some rudimentary instructions.

Our European friends always seem to be the ones who don't have or can't acquire accurate mapping software at a reasonable cost. Those of us in the US and Canada have MapPoint, Streets & Trips, Streets USA, Topo USA, etc. Plus we have WIGLE for online coverage of the US.
