Cool Passively monitoring http sites / msn etc
All,

Is there any software out there that allows you to present the data that you may be passively monitoring in the correct format eg. looks like an IE screen that just follows what the person is doing.

A tool that could handle live or a replay of captured data.

I know that there are linux tool that do this for LAN networks.

Any help would be good.

Under Windows, I don't know any such tool. Under Linux, I have used webspy for a live demo of WEP cracking & ARP spoofing (had to patch the source though, to prevent webspy from displaying .css, .js etc.)

Check the wireless tools and sniffers FAQ here.

Iris from eEye, and EffeTech HTTP Sniffer fits the bill nicely for Windows. Both are commercial software, both have trial versions available.

There's a dsniff package that has been ported to Windows. It had webspy included in the package. It needs an OLD copy of Winpcap. You'll need to research to find out exactly which version. It worked great, and was FUN to use.

I have that but I guess I don't know enough to get it working correctly!

Laura Chappel includes a copy of EffeTech in her White Hat Toolkit. Works slick.

You DO know you can go blind, if you play with it to often ? I suggest you get married. More fun having people employed to do the manual labour, and you'll keep your 20/20 vision..

Webspy is the only tool I know of that actually uses your browser to follow the movements of your target. These other tools can sniff the traffic, gather the URLs or pick put the pictures (etherwatch works for windows by the way) but not actually display the pages interactively. EffeTech HTTP Sniffer gathers the URLs and the display allows you to click and go to any of the URLs, but doesn't actually walk your browser through everything your target is doing.

Hope that's clear. I'm working on a sleep deficit, getting prepared to leave for Korea on Sunday.
